Five electric cooperative families have been selected to win up to $10,000 in energy efficiency upgrades as part of the Texas Co-op Power Home Energy Makeover Contest.
Co-op homeowners were eligible to enter their primary residences in the statewide contest between December 28, 2009 and March 10, 2010. Over 11,000 residents across the state participated in the contest. Winning homes will receive up to $10,000 in energy efficiency improvements which could include new heating/air conditioning units, insulation, water heaters and other energy efficiency upgrades.
Texas Co-op Power created the Home Energy Makeover Contest to promote home energy efficiency. Corporate sponsors Lennox and Johns Manville have agreed to donate equipment and services for the home energy makeovers. Cooperative employees will help supervise the work and assist in the renovation process.
